Property Description

"Set amid mountains and lochs, a glorious Highland retreat..."

Set against a stunning backdrop of mountains, on the shore of Loch Linnhe, these traditional Highland holiday cottages occupy a wonderfully secluded setting amidst 14,000 acres of remote highland sporting estate. Elastic Cottage and The Old Post Office have been beautifully renovated in their own surroundings, each maintaining its own distinctive character, with splendid rustic features and original furnishings combining to create the perfect romantic retreat.
Suitable for a larger group, Kingairloch House is a spacious sporting lodge, presented with style and great attention to detail. Surrounded by a well-tended garden with croquet lawn, its garden directly borders the seashore. Kingairloch House may be booked for wedding ceremonies or ceremonies can performed by Church of Scotland minister in the church on the Estate. A hall on the Estate is also available for up to 50 guests at weddings and special occasions. The Gate Lodge offers accommodation for larger groups as well, whilst Pier Cottage is a cosy traditional cottage for two. Riverside Cottage is a wonderful detached property with its own small garden and patio, and Camus House is a traditional detached property. Seaview Cottage (SMMY) is a beautifully renovated single-storey detached cottage, half a mile from the nearest house, and enjoys an idyllic lochside location. Furnished to a wonderful standard, its secluded location is reached by foot, or if the tide is right by 4x4 vehicle. The owner will deliver food and luggage if required.
This is a wonderful location for relaxing and unwinding - guests can also enjoy eating at the Boathouse Restaurant which can be found on the Estate. Wildlife abounds and it is not unusual to catch glimpses of red deer and otters at play. The area is unspoilt, remote and known for its scenery of mountains and lochs. A short drive and ferry crossing brings you to the Isle of Mull, with excellent walking and sightseeing.
Tobermory, the capital of Mull, is a wonderful natural harbour which was made into a port during the 18th century. Clusters of brightly coloured houses and boats are sheltered in a bay backed by a steep bluff. Pony trekking and golf are available from here and wonderful woodland walks with waterfalls can be enjoyed in Aros Park. Ferry connections to the neighbouring Western Isles of Coll and Tiree also exist from Tobermory.
The villages of Strontian, Ardgour and the gorgeous whitewashed fishing hamlet of Corran (14 miles) offer shops, inns and other town amenities. Fort William (30 miles), has a fort, museum, golf course and Ben Nevis Exhibition, and is the perfect base for ascending the great mountain. A ten minute drive from the town leads to Glen Nevis, which is undisputably among the highlands most impressive glens. A classic U-shaped glacial valley, hemmed in by steep bracken-covered slopes and swathes of blue-grey scree have entranced visitors for many years and has been the location for scenes in many movies, such as Rob Roy and Braveheart.
Excursions from Fort William include the popular day trip to Mallaig on the Jacobite Steam Train, taking in some of the region’s most spectacular scenery. Several cruises also leave from the town pier every day, offering the chance to spot the marine life of Loch Linnhe, including seals, otters and seabirds. Fishing, camera shooting and boat trips can be arranged, subject to availability.
