Property Description

Just 5 minutes’ walk from one of Scotland’s most beautiful beaches and three first class golf courses, this secluded property offers comfortably appointed and spacious accommodation and has a large secure garden with patio and barbecue. Set on the picturesque Goose Green in the village of Gullane, within 500 yards of a choice of shops, restaurants and pubs. Gullane’s famous unspoilt golden sands are backed by dunes, which lead to miles of coastal footpaths. Two miles to the west lies Aberlady Bay – an important haven for waders and geese, and a 5 mile walk east along the coast past Muirfield to North Berwick takes in more fine beaches, including the sandy, rock-framed beach at Yellowcraigs, which overlooks Fidra Island, a large lump of basalt that’s home to thousands of seabirds. This is golfing country par excellence: Gullane is world famous for its top golf courses – there are 6 first class courses within a 6 mile drive, including the shoreline links of Muirfield, the exclusive Open Championship course.
Nearby are many picturesque villages and towns steeped in history – for example Dirleton with its 17th and 18th-century stone cottages and 13th-century ruined castle, or 14th-century Tantallon Castle, ancient stronghold of the Red Douglas. Just 5 miles along the coast, lies the historic and picturesque town of North Berwick, home to the recently opened, award winning Sea Bird Centre and from whose harbour boat trips set out during summer round the Bass Rock or Fidra Lighthouse. Nearby Haddington is a handsome country town with an intriguing ensemble of 17th to 19th-century architectural styles, including the stately Town House and the huge parish church of St Mary’s. Half an hour away by car lies Edinburgh, the ‘Athens of the North’ with its famous castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, museums and numerous cultural activities, culminating in the world famous Edinburgh Festival and Fringe in August. Edinburgh Zoo is a great attraction for all the family, and includes the African Plains Experience and a Lion Enclosure, as well as the famous penguin parade.
