Property Description

This former 18th-century church, situated just a few yards from the waters of Loch Duich, has been sympathetically renovated to provide spacious accommodation. It has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard with every need in mind to ensure an unforgettable holiday. The Old Church, a truly unique property, enjoys a peaceful setting with stunning loch and mountain views and makes the perfect base for exploring the wonders of this part of the Highlands. There is lots to see and do for all ages – climbing in the nearby Five Sisters of Kintail, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, sea trips (including a glass bottom boat at nearby Kyle of Lochalsh) and horse riding to name but a few of the many activities available locally. Visit the romantic Eilean Donan Castle (said to be one of the most photographed in the UK), the beautiful, enigmatic Isle of Skye, or the lovely picturesque villages of Plockton, Applecross, Ullapool and Gairloch on the west coast which are all within easy reach. The popular village of Plockton offers trips to view seal colonies and some excellent local seafood restaurants. Take the pass over the hill to experience some of the most stunning scenery this area has to offer and visit the pretty village of Glenelg with its Iron Age brochs, sandy beach, inn and summer ferry to Skye. A day trip to the National Trust Inverewe Gardens is a must, as is a tour of the wonders of the Isle of Skye. Take a trip on the train from Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness, the Highland capital city to see some wonderful scenery en route. Inverness offers a large variety of shops, restaurants, theatre and museums. Alternatively, just sit in the garden to catch sight of the otters which are known to frolic on the beach beside The Old Church - or perhaps see the porpoises which are also regularly sighted in this area. A wonderful location for just unwinding from a busy life. Pub 5 miles.
