The town boasts a wide range of activities for all the family, including horse-drawn canal boats and a famous steam railway (including Santa Special) in addition to shops and restaurants, making the cottage very popular for family reunions. The nearby Royal International Pavilion hosts a wide range of events throughout the year. Walks throughout the Vale of Llangollen, including to the ancient hilltop Castell Dinas Bran, can be made from the door, whilst for the more adventurous, canoeing, mountain biking and pony trekking are available locally. Chirk Castle, Erddig and the city of Chester are nearby, with white water rafting at Bala Lake and the mountains of Snowdonia within an easy drive.
