Property Description

This beautiful period house dating back to c. 1829 (all of property in photograph) adjoins another private residence in a quiet square in the heart of the town, within walking distance of the beach and the many delights of Whitby. South-facing, there is a small secluded patio area. The property is very spacious and offers comfortable holiday accommodation. The historic port of Whitby is known for its connections with Captain James Cook, and a visit to Pannet Park’s Cook Museum is a must. Take a stroll around the park with its beautiful gardens, childrens’ play area and picnic areas. The colourful harbour and 3 mile stretch of sandy beach is a short walk from the door where the abbey ruins dominate the sky line. There is a myriad of cobbled yards and ginnels with specialist shops, inns and restaurants. The North Yorkshire Moors steam train leaves Whitby at regular intervals throughout the summer season and chugs its way through the glorious Esk Valley, stopping at the well-known villages of Grosmont and Goathland, both known for their connections with TV’s Heartbeat. Take a day to visit smugglers’ coves and fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, where tumbling little cottages cling to the cliffs. It is a perfect location from which to explore the beautiful Heritage coast of Yorkshire, with Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington approximately 25 miles. Visit the quaint villages that are tucked away deep in the valleys of the North Yorkshire Moors, and are easily accessed. For cycle enthusiasts, Dalby Forest, home to the world mountain bike event is perfect and hosts fun-filled family days out with ’Go Ape’ Adventure Park, live music events, barbecue and picnic areas dotted around the forest. Historic houses, halls and castles surround the area with the market towns of Pickering and Malton worth visiting. Whitby boasts its cliff top golf course, outdoor swimming pool, go karting, mini golf and much more, not forgetting Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo for a fun filled family day out. Shops 50 yards.
