Property Description

‘‘Character conversions in a tranquil countryside location with an abundance of wildlife’’

Tucked away in a quiet rural location on the edge of picturesque Chittlehampton, these superb adjoining barn conversions date back to the 1870s and lie within the grounds of the owner’s thatched farmhouse. Backing onto open countryside, they have been renovated to a high standard and offer excellent accommodation – perfect for exploring the area. Each property has its own sitting-out area overlooking ponds, where there is an abundance of wildlife. There is a children’s play area with swings and shared use of garden areas, ideal for ball games, evening barbecues or just relaxing in the tranquil surroundings.
Chittlehampton itself is a very pretty rural village with a shop, post office, church and village pub serving good food and local ales, or visit the neighbouring village of Chittlehamholt, offering an equally good village inn also serving food, and a well equipped Golf and Country Club boasting a range of activities with an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness and gym complex, 18-hole golf club, fishing, tennis and health and beauty spa (day rates apply). The popular market town of South Molton, 4 miles, has a weekly farmers’ market and a variety of shops, antique and curio shops, pubs and restaurants. Barnstaple, 8 miles, additionally has theatre, cinema and leisure activities, and places of interest including the Museum of North Devon, Pannier Market, 14th-century St Anne’s Chapel and 18th-century Queen Anne’s Walk. Other family attractions in the area include The Big Sheep, The Milky Way, Kilarney Springs, Exmoor Zoo and Dinosaur Park. Spectacular beaches at Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! are all within easy driving distance. Sailing, windsurfing and fishing at Tamar Lakes and Wimbleball Lake, 25 miles. Exmoor National Park, 7 miles. Excellent golf courses within 5 miles. Village shop and pub ¾ mile.
