This part of the coast is very popular with watersports enthusiasts, and those craving lovely beaches and a classic Cornish seaside holiday. In addition to lovely coastal walks, there is horse riding and a golf course nearby, with fishing, boating and canoeing available on the nearby waterway. Bude is a fine resort and the main centre for surfing, with good sandy beaches, rock pools and a tidal swimming-pool. Once a busy port, it stages an annual jazz festival and has numerous good pubs and restaurants. Widemouth Bay is only 3 miles further down the coast and has a Blue Flag beach. The Splash leisure centre, with indoor swimming-pool and newly constructed ten-pin bowling alley, is within a couple of minutes.
