Property Description

Completely secluded in a wooded valley and reached by a long, steep hilly footpath, this idyllic riverside cottage enjoys a most wonderful location, with magnificent panoramic views over the Helford River. It is fronted by a sunny wooden deck with steps down to a small lawned area set within three-quarters of an acre of gardens; from here a short flight of steps leads down to the river below, with a small shingle beach at low tide, jetty, and a private mooring. The house is equipped to a good standard, and makes a lovely private retreat for a relaxed holiday.
This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where narrow lanes meander through a luxuriant landscape. Attractive little fishing villages and yachting resorts, a sparkling blue sea and a wonderfully mild climate, all combine to give this region an almost Mediterranean feel; yet its sandy coves, steep headlands and little inland creeks, cutting through dense woods, are distinctively Cornish. Boating and fishing enthusiasts will be in their element. There is excellent sailing in Falmouth Bay and at Porth Navas, a renowned beauty spot on the Helford River, and headquarters to the Duchy of Cornwall’s oyster industry, the yacht club offers temporary membership to visitors. Falmouth (6 miles) has much to offer, with safe sandy beaches, a beautiful natural harbour and bracing cliff walks. There are boat trips, fishing trips and a passenger ferry across to picturesque St Mawes, as well as good shops, inns and restaurants. The Lizard Peninsula beckons, with its sandy beaches and charming fishing villages, and the area offers many National Trust houses and gardens to visit. Country club (½ mile) with 9-hole golf course, tennis and indoor swimming-pool. Village pub at Mawnan Smith 1 mile.

Entrance hall leading to beamed living/dining-room with open fire, wooden floor and French doors to terrace and large wooden deck. Cottage-style, newly fitted kitchen. Cloakroom/W.C. First floor: Two double bedrooms; one with wash basin and picture window with river views, and one with sloping ceiling. Twin-bedded room with cabin-beds, sloping ceiling and en-suite shower cubicle. Bathroom/W.C. with shower attachment.
