Property Description
On the edge of a small rural hamlet, just south of Saumur and the River Loire, these two detached holiday cottages have been attractively converted using traditional local materials. Each has a private terrace for outdoor dining, with shared use of a swimming pool, garden and orchard, offering plenty of space to relax and unwind. This peaceful spot offers something for everyone; lazy days by the pool, walking or cycling among the vineyards and sunflowers or as a touring base for the châteaux and vineyards of the Loire Valley. Nearby, pretty Montreuil Bellay offers a wide choice of restaurants and bars, river fishing and an imposing château. There are fascinating troglodyte settlements in the area, with a well-preserved village museum at Rochemenier. Saumur is known for its fairytale château, and its cavalry school, where regular displays delight horse-lovers. It is also famous for its sparkling wine, the best in France outside Champagne, as well as its tufa caves where 75% of the country’s mushrooms are grown. Note: the owner has a third property on site occasionally used by the owners family. There is also a fourth property (Chequers) which is equipped with TV for video and DVD player, table tennis and games for use by clients. Fly via Angers and Poitiers.
