Situated in the peaceful Charentaise countryside, between Rochefort and Marennes, France’s oyster capital, these two holiday properties are less than a 20 minutes’ drive from the beautiful Atlantic Coast and many sites of interest. Petit St Fort offers simple accommodation all on one level while Grand St Fort offers large comfortable rooms and retaining much of its original character, both opening on to their own enclosed garden. The two properties share an indoor swimming pool with sliding glass doors. Nearby is the pretty village of Trizay with its 11th century abbey, recreational lake and beautiful gardens of Compostelle, as well as canals for fishing and a bird sanctuary. Rochefort steeped in maritime history, has excellent museums and a famous dockyard to visit, while on the coast La Rochelle boasts a superb aquarium and old harbour full of lively cafés and restaurants, with many sandy beaches to explore.
