The interiors in the main house have high ceilings with ornate plasterwork, original tiled floors and marble fireplaces in some rooms, and are furnished and decorated with great flair. In the sheltered garden there is a private swimming pool. Jasmine, passion flower and trumpet vines climb over the covered dining terrace with built-in barbecue, an inviting hammock beckons from the dappled shade provided by the mature trees or try a game of table tennis, badminton or darts in the huge games room. There are grapes and figs to enjoy from the garden, along with the area’s ever improving wines to sample. Set in the village of Capendu with its bakery, local shops, café and restaurants all within easy strolling distance, this makes a great holiday destination in any season. Nearby is the Canal du Midi, the half-timbered town centre at Mirepoix, beautiful abbeys at Lagrasse, Fontfroide and Fanjeaux.
