Property Description

Set in peaceful seclusion down a quiet country lane, surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, this attractive, converted barn boasts its own indoor heated swimming-pool, making a very comfortable and relaxing holiday base. Modernised and refurbished, it provides spacious accommodation presented to a high standard, while retaining much of the building’s original charm. There is a large living room and dining room with French doors opening to the garden, as well as a spacious modern kitchen, which leads on to the pool, all arranged around a central courtyard. With lovely countryside views, abundant wildlife and a large enclosed garden, the house feels secluded and private, yet the market town of Bridport is only 2 miles away and the lovely Dorset coastline 4 miles.
Bridport offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and just along the coast is historic Lyme Regis, a picturesque and much filmed little town with an attractive harbour. The coast here boasts dramatic cliffs, excellent for fossil-hunting, leading on to acres of National Trust land at Golden Cap, with the coastal path giving walkers access to miles of stunning coastal scenery and dramatic views. Sandy beaches beckon, including nearby Seatown, and there is good sea fishing as well as coarse fishing on local rivers. There are several golf courses locally, including West Bay, where sailing can also be enjoyed. As well as its wealth of natural beauty, the area boasts several interesting places to visit, including Parnham House, a romantic stone manor house with formal gardens and woodland walks, and the pretty stone and thatch village of Abbotsbury. Here, on the shore of the lagoon enclosed by Chesil Bank, is the Swannery with hundreds of breeding swans.
