Fir Tree House (CP24) is a spacious Devon long house, dating back to the Domesday Book and is listed as ‘A House of Architectural Interest’. The house is south-facing, with beautiful views of the countryside and is ideal for the larger family. The Olde Dairy (CP23) is a perfect getaway for couples. A self-contained ground floor apartment, The Olde Dairy was formerly used for cooling milk back when the cows of the farm were milked by hand (the two groups can be booked together to form one large property for the larger family). Guests of Fir Tree House and The Olde Dairy both enjoy use of a large private, enclosed garden and furnished patio area plus use of the outdoor filtered swimming pool (6m x 12m, depth 1.2m to 1.5m). The swimming pool is used occasionally by the owners. Whiteley farm is a working farm, which has a milking herd of around 180 Friesian cows. Located only 5 minutes by car from the 14th century Cott Inn, well known for its good food and ale. Also very close by is the Dartington Cider Press Centre where the famous Dartington Crystal is for sale, alongside other interesting gift shops, cafes and restaurants. Less than 2 miles away is the historic town of Totnes, which is full of fascinating, individual shops and olde worde charm, many bistros and restaurants can be found here too. Market day on a Friday in Totnes is of particular interest to visitors, or climb to the top of Totnes’ Norman Castle for a superb view across the town, visit the ancient Guildhall and Tudor Townhouse museum. An ideal base from which to visit many places of interest in Devon, such as Dartmoor National Park, Torbay, South Ham beaches, Plymouth and Exeter.
