Property Description

Set in the village of Burnham Thorpe – the birthplace of Admiral Nelson – this charming barn conversion exudes a wealth of character, with a hexagonal central skylight forming the focal point of the living room, which is overlooked by an attractive galleried balcony. Set in an L-shaped courtyard, along with three adjoining properties, Nelson’s Barn provides a comfortable holiday base, with the added attractions of a south-facing sun terrace, lawned garden.
The North Norfolk coastline lies just 3 miles distant, offering excellent sandy beaches and coastal walks. Several nature and bird reserves found in the area make this an ideal holiday location for nature lovers and bird-watchers, with the RSPB-managed Titchwell Marsh and Scolt Head Island providing interesting days out for all the family. Brancaster, a few minutes’ drive away offers an uncrowded sandy beach, whilst Brancaster Staithe proves a popular venue for sailing and boating enthusiasts. Providing a range of activities, the lively seaside resort of Hunstanton lies 12 miles away, and here holidaymakers can enjoy a cliff top golf course, fun fair and Sea Life Centre. Basking seal colonies can be seen on boat trips taken from Morston and Blakeney, and from here fishing trips can also be made. For those interested in visiting stately homes, several lie close by, including Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall as well as Sandringham Estate itself, which is open to the public whenever the Royal Family is not in residence. Pub ½ mile.
