Property Description
Unique beach front mansion overlooking the sea, Sundial House enjoys a private position in the ever popular town of Aldeburgh. Superbly equipped, it is ideal for a traditional family holiday or get together with friends and is regularly booked for special occasions.
The accommodation is spacious and comfortably furnished with a large drawing room with Sky TV and dining areas in both the conservatory and dining-room. Conveniently there are three twin-bedded rooms with vanity basins and a double bedroom with en-suite shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs the bedrooms have stunning sea views, all adding to the seaside holiday experience.
The location of this house cannot be beaten, just yards from the beach where fishing and boat building still thrive. The sailing boats dotted along the river at one end of the town, the fishing huts, sheds and working boats scattered about the beach at the other all carry on as they have throughout the years and provide endless subject matter for painter and photographer alike.
From the house, take a walk along the unspoilt sea front, little changed since Victorian times, its uneven row of individual houses each seeming to have a character of their own, and within just a minute or two is Aldeburgh high street, which has a host of individual shops to browse, numerous high quality restaurants, traditional public houses, a cinema and award-winning fish and chip shops, all within easy walking distance.
Noted for its association with the composer Benjamin Britten, Aldeburgh was the backdrop for many of his operas. Close by is the world famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall where the annual Music and Arts Festival is held.
Golfers with a handicap can play on the Aldeburgh course by prior arrangement with the club. Additional ‘pay and play’ courses are available in Thorpeness or a short drive to Woodbridge. Aldeburgh also offers tennis courts, sea and river sailing. Walking enthusiasts can enjoy a lovely stroll along the beach or beach path, forest walks in nearby Rendlesham or Tunstall, or a country pub walk.
Picturesque drives to other towns and villages of interest including Southwold, Woodbridge, Orford, Thorpeness, Dunwich and Walberswick. Also close by is the RSPB reserve at Minsmere and a few miles south Sutton Hoo, the Anglo Saxon burial ground.
